About Us
What we do
We help organisations create highly effective strategic plans, achieve organisational alignment and get the best value from available resources.
Why we do it
All of our work is guided by our values.
We care passionately about the outcome of the work we undertake and the contribution we make to our clients, their people and society.
We act with integrity by being honest, open, easy to trust, reliable and positive.
We are people focussed and value people for the contribution that they make. We believe that work should be fun and engaging, and that everyone should be able to play a part in shaping the organisation and in continually making it a great place to work.
How we do it
No matter how good a strategy is it can only be successful if properly executed and realised. This requires adoption and commitment, which we believe can only be achieved through organisational alignment.
With a culture built upon the principles of positive psychology, Catalyze encourages its clients to utilise the combined strengths of the individuals that make up the organisation. Taking an inclusive approach to developing strategy, creating innovative options and making informed decisions we create a commitment and alignment rarely seen.
We have developed a robust, open and inclusive strategy planning process centred on world-class decision making. The design of this process began over 30 years ago at Harvard and MIT with research on decision analysis. The London School of Economics (LSE) took this research and added powerful group techniques. Catalyze was originally formed to commercialise this work, adding our own business experience. We continue to work closely with the LSE evolving the techniques by learning from and guiding academic research.
Working collaboratively with our client’s teams we act as a catalyst encouraging the involvement of the wider organisation in developing strategies that deliver broader organisational alignment and a deeper commitment to the way forward.
Our strategy planning process challenges the status quo, creates an environment in which open, inclusive dialogue is able to take place.
The tools and techniques we have developed are valued by our clients in helping them with business challenges that include:
- Optimising R&D investment
- Major strategic decisions (like how the UK should deal with its Nuclear waste)
- Removal of the ‘silo mentality’ in large corporations
- Gaining the best ‘value for money’ from major IT expenditure
- Portfolio prioritisation
Our strategy work is enhanced by a number of techniques and tools, including our own software products ‘Hiview’ for option evaluation and ‘Equity’ for portfolio prioritisation.
