Helping you get better value-for-money from your portfolio decisions

Equity3 is a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) tool for the PC that assists individual decision makers and organisations in obtaining better value-for-money when allocating limited resources and budgets. It is highly adaptive and can be used to address a variety of problem areas including R&D Investment, Marketing Portfolio Management, Project Prioritisation, Resource Allocation, Capital and Revenue Budgeting, Sales Territory Re-organisation and Negotiations. Equity3 is ideal for use with groups, as in Decision Conferences.

Essentially, Equity3 is a decision modelling tool which helps you construct your most efficient portfolio of expenditure or investment. Investments can be money, people, time, materials or any other scarce resource.

The benefits of undertaking a project can address the viewpoints of all stakeholders, including financial benefits, environmental benefits, and performance requirements. All this can be reported in an open, transparent and auditable manner, to show the entire decision process from beginning to end.

The benefits

The decision is broken down into simple manageable steps; the criteria and options are first identified, then these options are scored against the criteria and finally the relative importance of the different aspects of the model are set.

The benefits of particular options can address the viewpoints of all stakeholders. Equity3 allows different viewpoints to be easily evaluated.

Non-monetary measures have an important impact on the decisions we make. Unlike traditional cost-benefit-analysis Equity3 allows these criteria to be considered. It has been shown that many projects fail because of such issues and hence it is essential they are modelled.

Equity3 models are intrinsically transparent; all judgements, preferences and rationale are captured in the model.

Equity3 has been designed with user in mind – its clear screens make the modelling process simple, allowing the user to concentrate on the problem not the software.

Equity3 is ideally suited to group decision making, such as decision conferences. The flexible user interface has been designed to ensure it is suitable for projected displays. However, it is equally ideal for individuals making decisions.

Equity3 can be used to address a variety of problem areas including R&D investment, Marketing Portfolio Management, Project prioritisation, Resource Allocation, Capital and Revenue Budgeting, etc.

Equity3 makes use of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and is based on applied research carried out at the London School of Economics (LSE).
