Strategic Portfolio Management

Whether it is a portfolio of R&D projects, marketing projects, change projects or a mix of all of them, how you allocate your resources is of strategic importance, and arguably the most important set of decisions you face. An optimised portfolio of projects will give you the 'biggest bang for the buck' and with adequate resourcing will allow you to deliver your strategic objectives. However, it is common for the reality to be different, with imbalances, and resource going into projects that should really be stopped, while other potentially more valuable projects sit on the sidelines.

Our basic principle is to measure the added value of each project, taking into account both financial and non-financial benefits, risk and cost, and then to decide which combination of projects provides the most added value, and the best fit to the strategic objectives.
